Frequently Asked Questions

Empowering Personal Growth and Development Through Martial Arts and Holistic Training Programs

I live in (Gridley, Biggs, Berry Creek, Loma Rica, etc.), do I have to attend all classes?

As much as we love seeing our members in every class, it is not a requirement! We admire your dedication and consistency, whether that is twice a week or five days a week. We recommend a minimum of training 2 days a week so you can experience the success of installing new skills (and stay connected with your new training buddies in Oroville!)

Can my child try a class before signing up?

Yes! It is important to us that our school is a good fit for all involved. Although many who walk through our doors are ready to get started, we also offer a free trial class (or invite you to watch a class) for those who may not know much about jiu jitsu/grappling or who just want to see what the environment is like in our kids classes at Cultivate Power.

We recommend trying out one of the No-Gi Classes since the Gi Classes require the jiu jitsu gi uniform. For No-Gi Jiu Jitsu, just come on in wearing appropriate athletic clothing.

Which charter schools do you accept vouchers for?

We accept vouchers from the following schools:

South Sutter Charter School

Feather River Charter School

Lakeview Charter School

Mooretown Rancheria

Please give us a call or email us if your charter school isn’t listed and we will gladly add it to the list!

Can adults try a class before signing up?

Yes! It is important to us that our school is a good fit for all involved. Although many who walk through our doors are ready to get started, we also offer a free trial class (or invite you to watch a class) for those who may not know much about jiu jitsu, grappling, kickboxing, etc. or for those that just want to see what it’s like at Cultivate Power.

For our grappling program, we recommend trying out one of the No-Gi Classes since the Gi Classes require the jiu jitsu gi uniform. We have gloves to borrow for our STX Kickboxing classes, just come on in wearing appropriate athletic clothing and we’ll get you on the mats!

I am concerned about crime in our community, what classes would be best for me to feel more confident in handling a violent situation?

All of our classes can help you to develop various skills and attributes that increase your confidence, athleticism and situational awareness. We encourage people to develop the “JKD Mindset”, learning basic skills from several arts so you have an answer to the range of possibilities of a violent encounter. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned martial artist or athlete, our expert staff will assess your goals, experience and athleticism to recommend the best fit for you.
